A small sample of cases:


FELONY ADW

Client was charged with possessing a loaded firearm and assaulting someone with it.  The case was dismissed at the Preliminary Hearing. 

FELONY BURGLARY

Client was arrested for breaking into a home where she was found inside by the police and arrested for Burglary.  The client spoke with other attorneys who advise her there was little they could do as she was caught inside the home and to be prepared to get convicted of the felony and spend some time in jail.  Mr. Bell took on the case and fought.  The Client was convicted of only "misdemeanor tresspassing" and received NO jail time. 

MURDER

What became known as the "Power Ranger Murder" case, client was charged with stabbing an individual to death during an altercation.  The district attorney wanted 40 years to life.  Following a muliti-day preliminary hearing, the district attorney changed their position.  Client entered a plea to "manslaughter" and received a 6-year sentence. 

ASSAULT WITH A DEADLY WEAPON ON A POLICE OFFICER

Client was shot by police officers.  The officers then fabricated a story to cover-up the bad shooting.  Client was charged with Assault with a Deadly Weapon.  Following a jury trial,  client was "acquitted" (found "not guilty").   A subsequent civil lawsuit followed against the  officers and the City.  The case settled for a substantial sum of money.  Representation included trial strategy, drafting motions, criminal and civil discovery, preparing direct and cross examination, and drafting a lawsuit against the City.   

FELONY CONSPIRACY AND EMBEZZLEMENT

Mr. Bell was Lead Trial counsel for his client, an aerospace expert with a Phd, who was charged with multiple felonies along with 2 co-defendants, in a highly-publicized public corruption case involving the fomer Mayor of Palmdale.  The district attorney desired 18 years in jail and $900,000 in restitution from his client.  After a 2 1/2 year court battle, including multiple motions, and a multi-week preliminary hearing, which the Court described as "among the most complicated, if not the most complicated case I've ever heard in 37 years" -  Mr. Bell's client obtained a one-count dispostion with the dismissal of all other charges.  His client received NO custody time, NO restitution, and was placed on 36 months probation.  At sentencing, the Judge stated to Mr. Bell's client in court - "your attorney did a remarkably good job".  Thereafter, Mr. Bell filed a special motion requesting the court terminate his client's 36 month probation early.  This motion was granted by the court.   

FELONY POSSESSION AND SALE OF DRUGS

Client was arrested for possession of over 50 lbs of drugs in his home which was raided by LAPD.  He was charged with multiple felonies.  Client  was only convicted of violating Section 415 of the Penal Code, "Disturbing the peace".  The conviction was an "infraction" resulting in no jail time.  

FELONY - MULTIPLE SEX CRIMES


Client was charged with multiple sex crimes.   After several months in court, which included hearings and defense motions, the case was dismissed by the court over objections by the District Attorney. 

FELONY DRUNK DRIVING CAUSING INJURY

Client was charged with felony drunk driving following a traffic accident on the freeway resulting in injuries.  She was convicted of only "misdemeanor" 647(f) pc, "Drunk in Public" and received no jail time. 

MARIJUANA DISPENSARY CRIME

Client was charged with 8 criminal counts related to the operation of a marijuana dispensary.  He was convicted of only ONE count, an "Infraction", resulting in no jail time and a small fine.  

FELONY POSSESSION, SALES OF DRUGS

Client was in a vehicle that was stopped by the police.  During a search of the vehicle, a substantial amount of drugs were found.  Client was charged with multiple felonies, including sales, possession and transportation of drugs.  Following defense motions, including a Motion to Suppress Evidence and a Motion to Dismiss, the Court dismissed the case.  

FELONY ARSON - INSURANCE FRAUD

Client was a 13 year Firefighter from a major fire department.  He was accused of intentionally starting a fire and making a false insurance claim.  He was charged with multiple felonies and suspended from his job.  Mr. Bell  successfully had all felonies dismissed with one conviction for a minor misdemeanor.  Despite this, the City moved forward attempting to terminate his employment.  The client had retained separate attorneys to contest his termination.  However, the client lost faith in his lawyers and asked Mr. Bell to take over.  Mr. Bell decided to handle the employment case as well and won.  The client was fully reinstated to his job as a firefighter and received full back-pay for the entire time he was suspended.
